The Orchard Park Jaycees Present the 15th Annual
Earning By Learning Summer Reading Program
Program Details and Rules:
**Children entering grades 2-5 in the Fall are eligible to participate.
**Participating children will receive $1 for each age appropriate book read from the approved reading lists, up to 7 books per week.
**Books read that are not on the preferred reading list must be approved in advance by a Jaycee or the Librarian and confirmed by Jaycee member.
**The program is free, however, a parent must volunteer for TWO of the three nights to interview other children. If parent does not participate or fails to volunteer for two evenings, child will not be eligible for money prizes (program must be fair to all participants)
**READING LISTS WILL BE POSTED ON JAYCEE WEBSITE AND PARENTS MUST HAVE ACCESS TO A PRINTER TO PRINT THE READING LISTS.To be fair to all participants, reading lists will not be posted until June 23rd.
Program Dates:
Registration will be held Thursday, June 24th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Parent or Legal Guardian MUST be with participating child(ren) to be eligible. Parent/Guardian must sign permission slip and acknowledge rules of the program before child is accepted.
The program runs for three consecutive Thursday evening sessions starting at 6:30 pm at the Orchard Park Library, 4570 South Buffalo Street, Orchard Park, NY (corner of South Buffalo Street and Highland Avenue) in the meeting room. The meeting room is to the left as you walk in, down the hallway near the check-out desk. Please be prompt. Parents should be ready to assist with interviewing children upon arrival. No child can be dropped off -- they must be accompanied by an adult. The OP Jaycees accept NO responsibility for children who are not supervised.
Children MUST be signed in by 7:30 pm to be eligible for that week.
The dates of the program are:
July 15th - Week One
July 22nd - Week Two
July 29th - Week Three (last night of program)
Money prizes will be distributed on August 12th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Orchard Park Library in the meeting room. If you cannot attend this evening, please advise us in advance and your child's earnings will be mailed to them.
